My name is Shanice-Shaila and in this video I'm going to share with you a few key differences between 3 highly regarded integrative medicine disciplines:

    Massage Therapy
    Chiropractic Manipulation
    Physiotherapy aka Physical Therapy

But why should I discuss this alone, when we have an in-house:

    professionally trained
    state-licensed
    and insured Massage Therapist

right here with us. So welcome in our expert for today, Elated Harmonies Massage's own....

Massage Therapy: Scope of Treatment

Nora L. Carter, Lead Massage Therapist here at Elated Harmonies Massage

So today I thought I'd make an appearance, cause I can't let her have all the fun.

But first things first, as the Lead Massage Therapist here my scope of treatment involves manipulating the muscle to relieve stiffness, soreness, and pain. I can use a range of techniques, including: Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Stretching to loosen the muscle, increase circulation, and reduce anxiety and stress levels.

So the key difference here is I am trained and skilled in manipulating the muscle to enhance your wellbeing.

Now, I'll bring her back, to explain the rest

Chiropractic Manipulation: Scope of Treatment

Oooohh. We should do that more often. Now let's get to it!

Number... ok no numbers today... Next Discipline!

Now the next integrated discipline is Chiropractic Manipulation. Now chiropractors scope of treatment involve manipulating the spine, joints, and soft tissue with primary focus on the spine.

Typically you would seek alignment to treat lower back and neck pain. Chiropractic Care is used in compliment to both Massage Therapy and lastly Physical Therapy.

Physiotherapy: Scope of Treatment

Now our last integrated discipline were discussing today is Physiotherapy aka Physical Therapy their scope of treatment is primarily involves rehabilitating individual mobility, strength, and function from injuries, surgeries, or disabilities.

PT typically educate the individual on injury prevention as well as prescribe exercises, stretching, and some manual manipulation of muscles and tissues.

Key Focal Differences: Muscles, Spine, Rehabilitation

So recap!

Massage Therapists focus on muscle and soft tissue manipulation
Chiropractors focus on spine and joint manipulation, and
Physical Therapist focus on rehabilitating strength and function usually from: injury, surgery, or disabilities.

So there it is! 3 key integrated medicine disciplines and the key differences between them.
